What an amazing season your Green Wave had!
The Junior Varsity team has another great development year getting ready for the Monday after Thanksgiving to hit the ice again.
Your Green Wave Varsity not only finished the season 20-3, Western MA Champions, but also brought home the program’s first ever State Championship and the third ever state championship in Greenfield High School history.
As I sat here this morning reflecting on the past 98 days (which was day 1 of tryouts all the way through raising the trophy above my head) I can’t do anything but smile, laugh, cry, and know that we have just created a piece of history.
First I need to recognize our coach staff within the program. I’ve said it for years and will say it for years to come… Best Coaching Staff in the State!!! The effort and time these men give to coach and mentor the student-athletes on this program always amazes me. See you all at Coaches Corner all off season, preparing for next season.
Next, the parents association. Always a fantastic first line of supporters for our student-athletes. You have worked so hard to give them the opportunity to play high school hockey. Results speak volumes…State Champions!
The community. Not just the hockey community but the entire community in Franklin County that supported and cheered these young men and woman throughout the season. Packing the barn every home game at the CMA and on the road. But to see 1,000+ at each of these playoff games truly shows what an amazing community we have here. We appreciate it!!!
Finally the student-athletes them selves. I know we push you hard, right to the limits of what you can give:
Physically
Mentally
Emotionally
And not once did you not believe in what we were building together! Because of the amount of belief you put in the coaching staff and pushed yourselves to the limits we were able to make history. Seniors, not many athletes can say they finished their last high school hockey game being State Champions. You can always say you WON your last high school game!
Every one of you remember: No matter where your life takes you in the future you all know that you play life the Green Wave way…good things will happen!!!
